About this course

The finance profession is changing rapidly. Technology is automating routine processes while increasing the importance of analysis, interpretation, strategic advice and business partnering.

This MSc responds to that changing environment.

You will deepen your understanding of accounting and finance while exploring how AI, data analytics, automation, digital finance and sustainability are influencing professional practice.

The programme also considers governance, risk, strategic decision-making and organisational change. This broader perspective recognises that senior finance professionals increasingly need to understand the organisation beyond the finance function.

Current developments reinforce this direction, with the future of the profession increasingly incorporating AI and technology, data science, sustainability, strategic leadership and broader employability skills.

At postgraduate level, accounting and finance professionals increasingly need to understand the wider consequences of financial and strategic decisions. The programme will therefore consider ethics, governance, sustainability and responsible financial management alongside technical and analytical capability.

You will explore sustainability, ESG and themes connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), considering how finance can contribute to long-term organisational value and wider social and environmental outcomes.

The MSc will examine accounting and finance within a global business environment, while retaining strong connections to the Lincolnshire economy and regional business community.

You will consider how organisations respond to international markets, regulation, investment, technology and economic change, alongside the specific challenges faced by businesses operating within sectors such as agriculture and food, manufacturing, tourism, retail and professional services.

You will therefore develop both advanced technical understanding and the ability to apply that knowledge in complex organisational contexts.

You will be taught and supported by academics with expertise across accounting, finance, business, management, digital transformation and professional education.

Scheduled Teaching Hours

Postgraduate programmes consist of 180 HE credits, with each credit equating to 10 hours of learning.

Students would normally be expected to have, or be predicted to have achieved, a 2:2 (or NARIC equivalent) in any degree subject.
