A programme specification is a concise description of the intended aims and learning outcomes of a programme of study, detail of how these outcomes can be achieved and demonstrated, and further information including the mode and duration of study, programme-specific regulations and the structure of the programme. They are written for the benefit of:
- prospective and current students, to provide details additional to those on the Study at Lincoln Bishop page;
- academic and administrative staff, to provide an outline of how the programme is structured (into a cohesive whole).
They can also be useful as a supplement to the transcript for former students. Programme specifications are published for programmes on which students are currently enrolled; previous programme specifications may be available on request, please email the Quality team.
Programme specifications are published annually and therefore represent the course structure for each specific academic year of entry. See also: Lincoln Bishop University's Academic Regulations Governing Taught Qualifications.
The modules shown on our programme specifications include those currently running as well as those planned for future delivery.
Alongside compulsory core modules, some courses offer optional modules.
Optional modules are subject to availability, and this depends on factors such as student numbers, staffing, and timetabling. This means that specific optional modules cannot be guaranteed to run every year.
In exceptional circumstances, Lincoln Bishop University reserves the right to make changes to modules, courses, or parts of courses, including withdrawing or amending provision where necessary. This may include situations where there is insufficient student demand to make a module or course viable to run, or where changes are required due to academic, staffing, or operational reasons.
Where such changes are necessary, the University will take reasonable steps to inform affected applicants or students as soon as possible and will aim to minimise any disruption to your studies.
Update August 2026: please note that we are working to update some of our programme specifications. These represent small updates to optional modules at Level 5 (second year) as part of a normal regular process of updating our courses.
