Alison Braithwaite
Alison Braithwaite is a Lecturer for the Career Development Professional Apprenticeship, as well as, the project manager for the MOVE Project, which aims to support the long term unemployed back into work and learning.
Through this project, Alison has developed a detailed understanding of the factors influencing employment and learning choices for adults in the local community and undertakes career guidance support to participants. This builds on Alison’s 30 plus years of experience in working in the Career Development sector since studying the Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance at Napier University.
Alison has worked in Careers and Connexions Services in Norfolk, Leeds and Lincolnshire as a practitioner in schools and community settings, leading on policy development and as a delivery manager. Her main areas of expertise and interest are services to support the marginalised in society, particularly young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) or at risk of becoming so, having been County Lead for 8 years.
Prior to her career in careers, Alison graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in Biochemistry and worked for the Cancer Research Campaign at Charing Cross Hospital for 3 years.
