Lincoln Bishop University proudly hosted an on campus launch event for their new Business School, marking an exciting new chapter for business education with a commitment to developing future leaders, supporting local businesses and contributing to Lincolnshire’s economic growth.

The launch, held on Wednesday 21st October 2026, was about more than simply celebrating a new academic identity. The event provided an opportunity to bring together students, alumni, employers, business leaders and regional stakeholders to share in the school’s vision of ‘Purposeful Leadership for a Digitally Driven, Sustainable Future’.

Opening proceedings, Professor Andrew Gower, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, was joined by Dr Nick Gee, Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Thomasin Nicholds, Dean of the Faculty of People and Society, and Professor Firoz Bhaiyat, Dean of Lincoln Bishop Business School, in setting out the University’s and Business School’s strategic ambitions. The occasion was marked by the unveiling of the Business School plaque by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, Toby Dennis, recognising an important milestone for the University.

The event provided an opportunity to showcase the Business School’s ambition to become a distinctive, innovative and inclusive centre for business education, firmly rooted in Lincolnshire and connected to the needs of employers and communities.

Attendees were introduced to the school’s expanding academic portfolio, including contemporary programmes in areas such as AI Applications in Business, Business of Football, Accounting and Finance and Digital Marketing. The event also highlighted opportunities for postgraduate study, apprenticeships, professional development and executive education.

With a packed schedule across the day, the event provided the opportunity for attendees to hear from Chief Executive Officer at Lincoln City Football Club, Liam Scully, who delivered the keynote address on ‘The Power of Business in Sports’. His involvement was particularly relevant to the Business School’s ambition to strengthen relationships with regional organisations and develop industry-relevant education.

Followed by a Student and Alumni Panel, focussing on ‘The Power of Education’, attendees heard directly about the experiences and ambitions of the University’s students and graduates – placing the aspirations and achievements of learners at the centre of the event.

Firoz Bhaiyat, Dean of the Business School at Lincoln Bishop, said: “The launch has been an incredibly proud moment, both personally and for everyone involved in establishing Lincoln Bishop Business School. Since joining the University, I have been inspired by the ambition, commitment and enthusiasm of our colleagues, and it was fantastic to see that collective effort come together in such a successful launch.

“Our ambition is to build a Business School that Lincolnshire can genuinely call its own, one that opens doors for students, develops purposeful leaders, supports businesses and makes a meaningful contribution to our region. It was particularly rewarding to share that ambition with students, colleagues, alumni, employers and partners who we hope will be part of shaping our future.

“This is an important milestone, but it is very much the beginning of our journey. We have shared our ambition, strengthened relationships and taken some important first steps towards making that vision a reality. I am immensely proud of our team and excited about what we can achieve together.”

The launch showcased the work of the Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre (LORIC), which connects academic expertise with organisations seeking support through applied research, consultancy, innovation and knowledge exchange. The programme also featured contributions from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and from colleagues across the University who worked collaboratively to organise and deliver a successful launch.
