Greater Lincolnshire schools were invited to a landmark event hosted at Lincoln Bishop University aimed at transforming careers education and strengthening ties with local employers.

The event took place on Tuesday 9th December, where senior leaders, career leaders, and business representatives came together for a day of collaboration and practical learning. Hosted by the Greater Lincolnshire Careers Hub in partnership with Lincoln Bishop University and Newland Partners, the event focused on equipping schools with the tools to:

  • Market their value to employers
  • Embed employer engagement into careers strategies
  • Develop meaningful work experience opportunities
  • Network with local businesses and education leaders

With the Department for Education’s updated statutory guidance now requiring two weeks of meaningful work experience for every student in Key Stages 3 and 4, schools face a significant challenge in building sustainable employer partnerships. The new Ofsted Further Education and Skills Inspection Toolkit also places greater emphasis on employer engagement, making this event a vital opportunity for schools to prepare.

Over 150 attendees benefited from interactive workshops, networking sessions, two inspiring keynotes, a panel discussion and actionable planning, supported by pre and post event microlearning resources.

Philip Yeung, Head of Online Learning at Lincoln Bishop had been working in collaboration with Lincolnshire County Council in order to plan the day. With the event attended by many schools and businesses in Lincolnshire, working with such important stakeholders enabled us to make a real difference in the region.

Philip Yeung said: "We’re absolutely delighted to have hosted this event at the university. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together local businesses and schools in a shared space that fosters collaboration, inspires young enterprise, and builds lasting connections"

“We look forward to sharing the highlights with a wider audience via our next online conference series."
