Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) has announced the appointment of Dr Andrew Gower as the new Vice-Chancellor, effective from 22nd April 2025.


Dr Gower has worked in education for 30 years, having originally trained as a teacher. He has held senior roles at Canterbury Christ Church University and his most recent appointment is as Principal and CEO of Morley College London.

Andrew’s accomplishments within his current position have primarily focused on significant expansion of opportunities for lifelong learning; to meet the needs of the diverse communities the organisation serves in London, and beyond.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Gower said: “I am honoured to be the next Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Grosseteste University.

Motivated by the ambition and impact of higher education at all ages and stages of life, Andrew continues to be committed to widening access and participation in the education sector. His appointment as Vice-Chancellor will help to provide a stable foundation for growth at BGU.

Dr Andrew Gower will formally take up the role of Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Grosseteste University from 22nd April 2025.
