Leading the way: No.1 in the UK for Teaching, Assessment & Learning Opportunities (National Student Survey 2025)

This October, the Office for Students (OfS) confirmed a third wave of investment, as part of their £40 million degree apprenticeship development fund, to increase Level 6 degree apprenticeships across England.

The awarded funding is purposed to specifically develop the teacher degree apprenticeship, for delivery from September 2025, and increase the equality of opportunity for our students onto degree apprenticeships.

Jane Fletcher, Head of Apprenticeships at BGU, shares her excitement: “We are delighted to have been successful in securing wave 3 funding to further support the growth of our degree apprenticeship provision at BGU.

“The University has a long history of excellence in delivering teacher training, so we are very excited to be able to offer people across our community this brilliant opportunity."

The funding instalments will be provided in October 2024 for this academic year 2024/25, with spending required to be complete by July 2025.

At BGU, we offer a variety of apprenticeship courses for a plethora of individuals who join us from differing backgrounds and have a variety of experience levels.

From archaeology to project management, our apprenticeship opportunities offer a unique experience in your chosen career path, to study alongside likeminded individuals who work in different organisations across all three sectors.

Emma Edwards, Programme Lead for work based ITE, said: “We continue to have well established work-based and blended learning pathways into teaching.

“Therefore, we are so pleased to have increased experience and expertise that will enable us to support even more people to train to teach through our new apprenticeship courses”.
