We were delighted to host a recent TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) focused event, which brought together educators, researchers, and key stakeholders from across the region – to share insights and build connections within the TESOL and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) community.

The event began with an engaging presentation by Fiona McManus, Lecturer in TESOL and Linguistics at Lincoln Bishop, who explored recent trends and research shaping the field. Her session highlighted innovative approaches to language teaching and the importance of evidence-based practice in supporting learners.

Following the presentation, attendees participated in networking activities with representatives from local authorities, education providers, and community organisations. These conversations provided a valuable platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing language education.

Reflecting on the event, Fiona said: “It was fantastic to see so many passionate professionals coming together to discuss the future of TESOL and ESOL. Building these connections is vital - not only for research but also for ensuring learners benefit from the very best opportunities and practices.”

We look forward to continuing these conversations and strengthening partnerships that benefit both our students and the wider language education community!
