Ami Montgomery
Ami Montgomery is Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Education and Head of School for Teacher Education at Lincoln Bishop University, providing strategic leadership across the Faculty’s full portfolio of Education and Professional programmes, including Initial Teacher Education (ITE), postgraduate education, and professional development. She is also Centre Manager for the Bell Foundation Centre of Expertise for EAL, leading national CPD programmes and embedding linguistic inclusion across teacher education and school partnerships. Professor Caroline Horton
Caroline joined Lincoln Bishop in April 2015. She is Professor of Sleep and Cognition, where she is director of the DrEAMSLab, Chair of Lincoln Bishop’s Research Ethics Committee, Lead for the Psychology, Health and Wellbeing Research and Knowledge Exchange Unit, and REF lead for Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience (UoA 4A) for Lincoln Bishop. Caroline contributes to the undergraduate BA Psychology courses, having previous programme led the courses, as well as the PhD programme. (see: www.dreamslab.co.uk / @sleepandmemory). More widely, Caroline is the Co-Director of the Lincoln Sleep Research Centre (LiSReC), the Treasurer and Trustee of the British Sleep Society, an elected committee member of the Cognitive Section of the British Psychological Society, where she is also a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), and a member of the International Association for the Study of Dreams Research Board. As a Committee member for the BPS’ Division of Health Psychology, Caroline is Co-Editor of the Health Psychology Update. Caroline is affiliated to research groups at the University of Lincoln, and Swinburne University, Australia. Caroline is a regular reviewer for several academic journals, a renowned expert in sleep, dreaming and memory, as well as on the Editorial Board for Sleep Psychology, and two of the Frontiers in Psychology journals. Caroline has been an external examiner at the University of Edinburgh (2019-2023; MSc Psychology of Mental Health) and is currently an examiner at the University of Derby (Psychology MRes) and Newman University (MSc Psychology (conversion)) and has externally examined several research degrees. Before joining Lincoln Bishop, Caroline obtained her undergraduate (2003) and Master's (2004) degrees in Psychology from the University of Durham, her PhD from the Institute of Psychological Sciences, University of Leeds (2007), and a PGCHE from Leeds Metropolitan University (2008). Caroline has taught at the Universities of Durham and Leeds as well as the Open University, and predominantly at Leeds Metropolitan University where she was a Lecturer then Senior Lecturer (2007-2015). Caroline’s research interests principally span the fields of sleep, dreaming, and memory, and the relationships between those concepts. She has pioneered and developed the Sleep Well programme, a behavioural sleep improvement programme, which is being rolled out to various populations, including young adults with anxiety, and people living with diabetes. Caroline regularly features in the media, on BBC radio shows and international podcasts. She is the founder and host of the Sleep Science Pod. -

Prof Claudia Capancioni
Prof. CLAUDIA CAPANCIONI, Dott. (Urbino, Italy), MA & Ph.D (Hull, UK), SFHEAProfessor of English Literature and Programme Leader for EnglishORCID identifier: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7127-6202Claudia is Professor of English Literature and Programme Leader for English at undergraduate and master’s level (MA English Literature; MA Children’s Literature and Literacies). She is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). At Lincoln Bishop, she is REF Unit of Assessment Lead for English and coordinates the Research & Knowledge Exchange Unit, ‘Re-presenting the Past: Cultures, Narratives, Legacies. She is the Deputy Chair of the Research Ethics and represents the Professoriate on Senate. In 2025, Claudia served as a member of the REF 2029 People, Culture and Environment Pilot Exercise’s Assessment Panel 28 (Dec. 2024 – July 2025) and was REF English Unit Lead for REF2021. She contributed to the University’s submissions to REF2021 and REF2014.The contribution of women to literatures in English is Claudia’s scholarly pursuit, with a focus on the long nineteenth century, the twentieth and twenty-first century. She specialises in British Victorian and contemporary women writers, life and travel writing, adaptation, gender, translation and solitude studies. She has a keen interest in multigenerational literary legacy in the long nineteenth century, intellectual circles, transnational and posthumanist studies. It is her work on border studies, matrilineal multigenerational literary legacy, Janet Ross and Sarah Austin, Margaret Collier Galletti di Cadilhac, Arctic travel narratives, and Joyce Lussu that is mostly cited. She has also published on Tennyson, the Gothic, detective fiction, Anglo-Italian literary and cultural connections, Ali Smith and Lucie Duff Gordon.Claudia teaches nineteenth-century and contemporary British literature, literary theory, travel writing, and research skills at undergraduate and MA levels. She also contributes to the doctoral programme of sessions for PhD and EdD students. She previously taught Victorian literature and Modernism at the University of Hull, where she was awarded her Ph.D.Claudia welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD students who are interested in pursuing their studies any of the following and related areas: Victorian literature and culture, Victorian and contemporary British women writers, travel and life writing, the Gothic, solitude in the nineteenth century, multigenerational intellectual legacy, migration and gender studies.Claudia is a member of UKRI’s Peer Review College, the Membership Secretary of the British Association for Victorian Studies (BAVS) and the Deputy Chair of the Executive Committee of the Tennyson Society. She is also an Executive Committee member of the International Research Group L&GEND. -

Dr W. Jack Rhoden
I am a historian from Lancashire but crossed the Pennines over 20 years ago. I gained my PhD at the University of Sheffield for my study of ‘Caricatural representations of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, 1848-1871’. I then completed a post-doc based at Chatsworth House before lecturing at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and Cardiff University.I am interested in all things nineteenth century, especially French and British political culture, political cartoons, book collecting, archive history and more recently the institutional history of this university, which began life as Lincoln Diocesan Training College in 1862. -

Dr Elizabeth Farrar
Elizabeth joined Lincoln Bishop in September 2015 having been a Headteacher for six years. She was involved in collaborative working with other primary schools across North Lincolnshire, including carrying out Teaching and Learning Reviews. Throughout her headship, Elizabeth’s school hosted ITT students from various universities, and she was the lead School Based Mentor for Lincoln Bishop placements. She has taught across the Primary age range, specialising in 7 – 11 years, and has been subject leader in English, ICT, Geography and PSHE. Before moving into primary education, Elizabeth taught English in the secondary phase, up to and including A level. -

Dr Lyndsay Muir
Lyndsay Muir is a senior lecturer in teacher development. She teaches on the secondary PGCE, MEd and PhD/EdD programmes, with specialisms in Drama and English, wider professionalism and equity, diversity and inclusion. She is a graduate of Durham, Birmingham (UCE) and Manchester Universities. Her background is in applied drama, and she has worked in all phases of education, as well as in the creative industries and training sectors. Lyndsay’s PhD thesis was titled 'A Teacher's Progress - passing as a professional' and her research interests include teacher professional identity formation, gender, sexuality, and inclusion in the field of education. She is a founding member of BRIDgE (Base for Research in Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. Teaching Lyndsay teaches on the PGCE, MEd and PhD/EDD programmes and is a subject specialist for the PGCE Secondary Drama and English. -

Dr Nyree Nicholson
Programme Leader - Professional Studies Nyree Nicholson is the Programme Leader for the Professional Studies team, and teaches across the three pathways on the Professional Studies Foundation, Honours and Master’s Degrees. She joined Lincoln Bishop University in 2015. Prior to this Nyree worked as a Programme Leader within another Higher Education intuition. Nyree worked with the Early Years Sector for eleven years also working as a foster carer for twenty years. Teaching Nyree teaches on the Foundation, Honours and Master’s Degrees across the Professional Studies pathways. Her teaching interests include all aspects of early childhood development. Nyree has a particular interest in Early Years research, collaborative practice, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and the Early Years Practitioner’s role planning and assessment within the Early Years Foundation Stage. Nyree is also interested in how the practitioner develops their own professional identity through experience and education. -

Dr Thomas Dunn
Dr Thomas Dunn oversees the running of all single and combined Hons Psychology degree programmes. Thomas leads on Researching Psychology I, Social Psychology, and Advanced Statistics modules. He is enthusiastic about the subject matter he teaches and utilises activate participation, problem solving, and creativity in his teaching sessions. Thomas’ own research focusses on assessing the potential benefits of complementary therapy interventions such as mindfulness meditation on various outcomes (e.g., work-related stress). His work has been published in world-leading journals and cited extensively. -

Thomasin Nicholds
Thomasin is the Dean of the Faculty of People and Society at Lincoln Bishop University. She joined the University following a career in the Charity and Community Sector, where she was responsible for the strategic development and delivery of a wide range of services supporting children, families, and communities. Her areas of expertise include organisational development programmes, community-based research, Ofsted-regulated further education, health and wellbeing initiatives, and knowledge transfer projects. In this context, she has operated at a national level, contributing to policy development, building and sustaining strategic partnerships, and leading cross-sector networks. Thomasin worked in partnership with the Higher Education sector via a range of programmes and projects.Thomasin is an experienced charity trustee and has served on the boards of organisations of varying size and scope. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Psychology, with research interests in leadership, workplace inclusivity, and resilience.For two years Thomasin was the Principal Investigator for an externally funded, gender and leadership research project, working with colleagues with a background in Social Psychology, Business, Education and Sociology. -

Reverend Dr Tania ap Siôn
The Revd Dr Tania ap Siôn is Reader of Religions, Humanities and Education, and joined Lincoln Bishop University in 2018. She holds a BA and MA in Theology from Oxford University, an MA in Religious Studies from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a PhD in Education (focusing on theology, psychology and education) from the University of Warwick. Tania’s academic research has a strong relationship with professional practice in church-related, school-related, and community-related contexts. This is underpinned by the professional qualification of PGCE in Religious Studies, ordination as an Anglican priest in the Church in Wales, active membership of national and international organisations concerned with religion in schools, and the position of Executive Director of the St Mary’s Centre (a Christian research institute in Wales). Previously, Tania has held academic posts at Bangor University (1994-2007), Glyndwr University Wrexham (2011-2015), and the University of Warwick (2015-2018). Funded by the Wrexham (Parochial) Educational Foundation in partnership with Lincoln Bishop University, since October 2020 Tania has been working on the St Giles’ Centre Research, Development and Impact Project in Religious Education, which is an exciting and innovative development taking place in the Wrexham County Borough, North East Wales.
