    Our history course is broad, interesting and ambitious in its coverage of historical topics and eras from the medieval period into the 21st century. From the Black Death to pirates in the Caribbean, from French revolutionaries to civil rights campaigners, from witch trials to Cold War tensions, you will learn how people in the past lived, understand their world, their beliefs, motivations and actions, and ultimately learn how the world came to be the way it is.The lecturers on this course will draw on their own research and teaching experience to bring history alive for you in classrooms and on field trips. The work placement opportunities will enable you to apply your knowledge in a professional setting and our assessments are tailored to help you develop the range of written, oral and digital skills that are in demand for graduate roles.

You will explore a stimulating range of genres, approaches, authors, and themes. Our innovative modes of assessment are designed to develop your interests: you will choose texts, writers, genres, theories, themes, and literary periods on which to focus independently.

    This exciting course reviews the evidence for conflict from the medieval period through to the present day across a breadth of geographical situations. Armed conflict has shaped states, societies and economies from ancient times through to the present day. The study of military history is a fascinating topic and includes much more than learning just about weapons and battles. Taking this course will help you to develop an understanding of the wider social, ethical and political contexts of warfare.

  6. 26. Primary Teaching Studies with QTS
    Are you a teaching assistant currently working in a primary school, or working in an equivalent educational setting? If you’ve recently completed a relevant Foundation Degree and are looking to pursue a career in primary teaching, then this course could be the perfect next step for you. The course is a stimulating and challenging degree at honours level, developing the qualities required in 21st century teachers. This course will be delivered via blended learning where students will be taught remotely for the equivalent of 1 day per week. Roughly one day each half term, students will attend campus for sessions, and the remainder of the taught content will be delivered through a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions to allow students flexibility. Some placements may take place in the school in which students are working as a TA.
