This academic year, Lincoln Bishop University are proud to partner with Mrs M’s Education Fund, who provide final year scholarships to selected women of all demographics and backgrounds.

Mrs M’s Education Fund expresses how education enables a better future and helps individuals escape poverty and hardship. The fund is a foundation that aims to help individuals access educational opportunities to realise their full potential.

In January, two of our PGCE Primary students received a bursary. Here, they shared more about what it means for them and their journey towards becoming a teacher:

Emily Garthwaite said: “Having spent my undergraduate years managing on minimal student finance, this bursary has given me the chance to regain some financial stability during my PGCE and has given me breathing space to focus on my training and future as a teacher.”

Dee Davie said: “Mrs M's Educational fund has given me access to so much more than just financial aid. It has shown, not just myself but also, my three young daughters that anything is possible, no matter what position life puts us in. Charitable organisations such as Mrs M's are truly life changing and I am extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity they have provided me with to continue my teacher training journey.”

The Mrs M's Education Fund aims to assist individuals from lower social and economic backgrounds – with the aim to ensure the long-term impact on a personal level, it is the organisation’s hope that they will then contribute into society in a way that helps others in a similar position in the future.

Mrs M’s Education Fund is delighted to be working in partnership with Lincoln Bishop University helping determined individuals (that meet the eligibility criteria) achieve successes at university level via bursary and scholarship grants. This academic year (2025/26), the fund are pleased to be awarding 2 bursaries to outstanding female students on the PGCE Primary course. The eligible students each received a one-time grant of £2,000 to support educational successes.

Kathryn Fusenich, Trustee at Mrs M’s Education Fund, said: “Our partnership with Lincoln Bishop University marks the first partnership outside of the London area for Mrs M’s Education Fund, and we are delighted to be developing this relationship with the university that has a great reputation for Teacher Training, investing in talented, determined students who will not only transform their own futures but, we hope, go on to inspire and uplift others.

“We are delighted to award two bursaries to support these outstanding women as they embark on their journey to become educators and role models for the next generation.”

Mrs M’s Education Fund, part of the Shaukat Moledina Foundation, was established during the 2023/24 academic year with the introduction of a single bursary at one university. In 2024/25, this initiative expanded significantly, with six bursaries awarded across two universities. For the current academic year, the fund is proud to announce a minimum of thirteen bursaries being distributed across six universities, marking a major milestone in its growth.
