'Living Lincoln: A Virtual Literary Trail'

Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is delighted to have designed a 'Living Lincoln: A Virtual Literary Trail' for the City of Lincoln's Festival of History which will be taking place 4th to 6th May 2024 and is available now on the official Living Lincoln website. The trail will follow in the footsteps of Lincolnshire author, Bernard Samuel Gilbert, who walked around the city 110 years or so ago. Gilbert described in rich and compelling detail many of the city's buildings and the life in the surrounding streets.

"The best times to explore Lincoln are before breakfast and after dinner. In the early morning you can see the place; at night the people..." Bernard Samuel Gilbert

The content of the trail has been chosen by BGU's Professor Andrew Jackson (a Gilbert expert) and supported by fellow local historians of the Survey of Lincoln Project.

You will discover sites and sounds of the city that have inspired literature, and you will creatively reimagine our local past by following the tour virtually and on foot. The trail for the Festival Weekend can now be viewed here on the official 'Living Lincoln: A Virtual Literary Trail' website!
