Dr Amy Albudri
Lecturer of English Amy Albudri is a Lecturer of English specialising in medieval literature and language. She joined the English team in 2014 and has convened many of the department’s period specialist modules. She was awarded a grant funded PhD scholarship at the University of Hull (2012) from which she also obtained a first-class Undergraduate degree in English literature. Amy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2020) with a previous lecturing post at the University of Hull. She is a prominent figure in global medieval events including the Kalamazoo International Congress on Medieval Studies, the Oxford Biannual Medieval Symposium, and Leeds International Medieval Congress. Teaching Amy’s dedication to teaching at Lincoln Bishop has been recognised with the accolade of ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ and ‘Best Lecturer’ in the annual student awards. Her approach to teaching is founded upon a commitment to the student experience and enabling hands-on historic accessibility. Amy convenes ‘The Gothic: Transgressive to Shock’, ‘Myth, Adaptation, and Transformation’, ‘Shakespearean Worlds’ and ‘Poetic License: Lines and Lyrics’. She has been responsible for the programme’s medieval component (‘Chaucer and the Middle Ages’) and undertaken extensive teaching in further modules including ‘Reading Myths, Telling Stories’, ‘Introduction to Literary Studies’, ‘Romanticism’, ‘Critical Approaches’, and ‘History of Fiction’. Amy particularly welcomes Undergraduate dissertations and final year projects relating to medieval and fantasy literature. Projects Amy assisted in the Brepols project ‘Nuns Literacies in Medieval Europe’ and accompanying book (2012) which explored the role of women’s ecclesiastic writing in the Middle Ages. In 2015 she participated in Palgrave Macmillan’s ‘The Medievalisms of Harry Potter’, contributing a paper and conference lectures. Amy is also involved in several Early Music projects, and is the Co-Chair of ‘Living Logos’, an academic discussion group that encourages communities to engage with the role of theology in the twenty-first century. Research Amy’s research lies primarily in the field of medieval theories of authorship and characterisation. Her monograph, Morgan le Fay and Other Women, has been accepted for publication by Brepols and she is part of the National Heritage Fund Research Project examining the role of the medieval stage. Amy is currently researching the Beverley Mystery Plays, connecting previously lost medieval source material with renewed interests in localised theological drama. Professor Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson is Executive Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange at Lincoln Bishop, and Professor of Local, Regional and Landscape History. Andrew joined the staff of Lincoln Bishop University in 2007, following ten years at the University of Exeter. The main focus of Andrew’s research includes twentieth-century local, regional, and landscape change in rural and urban contexts, and especially in Lincolnshire and Devon. Professor Jackson also engages in public history and heritage projects, supervises doctoral students, and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes in History. -
Prof. Claudia Capancioni
Prof. CLAUDIA CAPANCIONI, Dott. (Urbino, Italy), MA & Ph.D (Hull, UK), SFHEA Professor in English Literature and Programme Leader for English ORCID identifier: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7127-6202 Claudia is a Professor of English Literature and Programme Leader for English, including the MA English Literature and MA Children’s Literature and Literacies. She is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). At Lincoln Bishop, she leads the Research & Knowledge Exchange Unit, ‘Voicing the Past: ‘Culture, Legacy, and Narrative’. She is also the academic lead for the Sandford Award, and a member of the Research Ethics and Quality Assurance Committees. She is the Membership Secretary of the British Association for Victorian Studies (BAVS). The contribution of women to literatures in English is her scholarly pursuit, with a focus on the long nineteenth century, the twentieth and twenty-first century. She specialises in Victorian and contemporary women writers, life and travel writing, adaptation, gender and translation studies. She has a keen interest in multigenerational literary legacy, intellectual circles, intertextuality, and transnational studies. She has also published on detective fiction, the Gothic, Anglo-Italian literary and cultural connections, and Joyce Salvadori Lussu. Her publications include translations into English of Italian literary texts. She teaches nineteenth-century and contemporary literature, literary theory, and research skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She previously taught Victorian literature and Modernism at the University of Hull, where she was awarded her Ph.D. -
Dr Mick Jones
Dr Mick Jones is a Visiting Reader in Archaeology and a former part-time tutor. He spent most of his career in charge of archaeology in the city of Lincoln, as Director of the Lincoln Archaeology Unit and subsequently as City Archaeologist, a post from which he retired in 2012. He has also been an honorary member of the archaeology departments at both Manchester and Nottingham Universities, and an External Examiner for postgraduate course at Leicester and York Universities. He has been a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London since 1982 and was awarded the Society’s Friend Medal for his contributions to the study of the Early Christian Church in 2001. He was awarded an Honorary D.Litt of Leicester University (via Lincoln Bishop) in 2005. -
Dr Mary-Louise Maynes
Louise has been teaching at Lincoln Bishop University since 2008, initially as a visiting tutor and as a full-time member of staff from 2012. Prior to working at Lincoln Bishop Louise worked as a primary teacher in Kent and Lincolnshire and for a Schools Library Service, where she advised teachers on how to set up and manage school libraries. She has also had a career as a museum educator, working with children and young people in a variety of museums including the Apprentice House at Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire and the Natural History Museum in London where she managed their hands-on ‘discovery centre’. Teaching Louise teaches on the undergraduate Early Childhood Studies programme. Her teaching interests include the history of childhood, early literacy and working with babies and children under three. She has a particular interest in Children’s Literature and in developing ways to encourage students and practitioners to extend their knowledge and use of books with babies and young children. She has also contributed sessions on informal learning for the Education Studies programme.
