Professor Oleh Petrechko from Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University in Ukraine, joined the University as a Visiting Fellow throughout March 2026.
Oleh's Visiting Fellowship was funded by House of Europe – an opportunity which was first awarded in December 2025.
As a Visiting Fellow, Oleh’s trip enabled him to observe teaching at Lincoln Bishop, meet academics across the institution and discuss possible future collaborations.
Oleh commented: “My month-long Visiting Fellowship at the University provided a valuable opportunity to observe the organisation of the educational process and various teaching practices. I also engaged in productive discussions regarding future cooperation between our departments and universities.”
Despite this being his first visit to the UK, Oleh has previously worked with academic colleagues at Lincoln Bishop, in which they collaborated to deliver virtual research seminars for students across both of their respective universities.
Oleh continued: “What I enjoyed most was the atmosphere of goodwill and mutual respect between students and teachers, as well as the dedicated staff who support the University’s operations. The classes I attended demonstrated a high level of professionalism, an impressive focus on results-oriented learning, and a deep engagement from students eager to acquire new skills.”
“Lincoln itself is a welcoming and friendly city, perfectly suited for student life and tourism alike. I was particularly impressed by the community’s commitment to preserving its historical heritage, which is truly remarkable, spanning from ancient history through to the late Middle Ages.”
Throughout his visit, Oleh worked closely with our Deputy Dean and Head of the School of Applied Humanities, Dr Derwin Gregory.
Derwin shared the impact of Oleh’s visit: “We are honoured to have welcomed Prof. Oleh Petrechko from Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University to Lincoln Bishop University; his visit strengthens both universities' commitment to academic exchange and international dialogue.”
