This module is an introduction to theories and concepts across the disciplines of sociology and psychology that pertain to health and social care practice.

This module requires the student to develop an understanding of the theoretical concepts that inform a variety of complex group and individual human behaviours.

The module provides a theoretical-conceptual social science framework within which health and social care issues can be analysed as social phenomena.  The relationship between behavioural psychology and organisational behaviour will also be explored with particular focus and application to the Health and Social Care arena.

Admissions Process

If you are applying for individual or bundled modules through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), we will consider your application based on the level of study and the requirements of the module or modules you want to take.

You will need to show that you have the right knowledge, skills and preparation to study successfully at the level you are applying for. This could include previous qualifications, professional development, work experience or other relevant learning. If you have completed relevant prior learning at another institution, we may also be able to take this into account through our Recognition of Prior Learning process.

If you do not have the usual entry qualifications, we may still be able to consider your application. Please speak to our enquiries team for more information.

You do not need previous employment in health and social care to apply for Level 4 modules. You will need to show that you are ready to study at this level and meet any placement or safeguarding requirements linked to your chosen module. Some modules with placement activity may also help you build early sector experience and support your next steps into employment or further study.
