Professional Practice in Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) (Grantham)
Our FdA Professional Practice in Special Educational Needs and Disability is designed for people already working in this field, who want to develop their careers. If you are working or regularly volunteering in a school, nursery, residential care or another professional setting, supporting children, young people or adults with special educational needs and disabilities, this programme will enable you to study for a Foundation Degree whilst continuing the work role you love. This course is typically taught, one afternoon/evening session per week at Grantham College, the course combines college-based learning with your ongoing professional practice and some independent study. You will increase your knowledge and understanding, and develop academic skills to enhance you career and/or move on to higher study. Please note that this course is taught at Grantham College. -

Our history course is broad, interesting and ambitious in its coverage of historical topics and eras from the medieval period into the 21st century. From the Black Death to pirates in the Caribbean, from French revolutionaries to civil rights campaigners, from witch trials to Cold War tensions, you will learn how people in the past lived, understand their world, their beliefs, motivations and actions, and ultimately learn how the world came to be the way it is.The lecturers on this course will draw on their own research and teaching experience to bring history alive for you in classrooms and on field trips. Our English Language and Teaching programme immerses you in the fascinating study of English, from how it developed from humble origins to the global language with all its variations that we use today, to how it is learned by children as a first language or by learners of English as a second or further language - and much more. You will explore questions about language structures and language use in society, language disorders, and language acquisition and you will learn practical methods - and get hands-on experience - of how to teach it. Crucially, you will develop skills and knowledge to help you gain employment or pursue further studies for work or research in linguistics, education, and language teaching, and a range of other relevant fields. -

FdA Early Childhood Education

Our FdA Early Childhood Education course is designed for those working or volunteering with children 0-8 years in the voluntary, private and independent early years sector or a foundation unit in a school. This course is also for nannies, child minders and those working in Children’s Centres with families of young children.
