Andrea, who is studying a PhD, wanted to explore how teacher education courses in England prepared teachers to work in state secondary school education. Reflecting the global changing political climate, Andrea had a particular interest in how teachers were encouraged to promote and support equality in education to enable students to achieve their full potential.
During his visit, Andrea attended sessions taught by Dr Lyndsay Muir, Jon Begley and Professor Claudia Capancioni and taught one session on 'Education and teacher training in Victorian England. Matthew Arnold, intellectual and school inspector' and a second session on' The nightmare of the One Dimensional Man. Pedagogical notes on Adult Education from B. Suchodolski and G.M. Bertin' to students attending Dr Rachael Fell-Chambers' classes.
Dr Fell-Chambers said 'It was a delight to have Andrea visit. He was fully engaged with all students and posed challenging and thoughtful questions. The students really enjoyed the chance to explore education from another European perspective'. Dr Lyndsay Muir added 'Andrea, who had a very different educational journey to many of the students from Lincoln Bishop, worked with our students to help them develop their knowledge and appreciate new ways of understanding'.
Associate Professor Sheine Peart who hosted Andrea's visit confirmed 'Andrea was an engaged and curious scholar who was interested in every aspect of Lincoln Bishop University and life in the Midlands, including our Chaplaincy, the Student Union and football at Notts County - sadly the Imps were not playing during his visit.' Andrea is keen to continue working with Lincoln Bishop University and we are hoping to develop collaborative education projects in the coming year.
The final word is given to Andrea who said 'personally, philosophically and professionally, visiting Lincoln Bishop University was one of the most impactful education experiences ever and I am looking forward to growing and building our friendship and professional relationship'
