On Friday 7th and Saturday 8th February, we hosted our MA Education weekend – together, educators and researchers delved into some of the most pressing topics in education today.
Students were provided with the opportunity to engage in lively discussion, be reflective practitioners, and design research questions.
Amongst many insightful discussions, one of the highlights of the weekend was our exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to redefine learning.
Lucy Hughes, Senior Lecturer in Education at BGU, shared more about the ability of AI within the education sector: “AI can personalise education, automate tasks for teachers, and offer smart educational content, making it a powerful tool for enhancing student engagement and outcomes.
“However, discussions centred on the safeguards that are needed to ensure AI is incorporated effectively and ethically. This includes addressing concerns around data privacy, equity, and algorithmic bias.
“As we consider these challenges, it's timely to note that Paris has just hosted the AI Action Summit, where global leaders gathered to discuss AI's transformative impact on society, including education. For more information on this event, you can visit here.”
MA Education weekends are part of our blended courses and present wonderful opportunities to hear students’ insights and explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
We look forward to continuing these conversations with practitioners and exploring how we can harness AI's potential, while ensuring it serves the best interests of our students and contributes to high-quality education.
