About You

PGCE Secondary Physics, summer 2024
What inspired you to study in the UK, and why did you choose Lincoln Bishop?
UK was my dream country and I have heard of the equal opportunities and respect for every human being given in UK. I chose Lincoln Bishop University because I heard from previous students that the international team is very supportive and my experience was really amazing.
Your Current Situation
If you have employment, what job do you do, and where do you work? Or, if you are undertaking further studies, what new course are you studying?
I am working in a Secondary school as an ECT teacher.
What do you most enjoy about your job/your new course?
In the school what I enjoy most is when my students achieve the target, and everyone is engaged in learning and I feel satisfaction of the job well done.
How has your university course helped shape your career or further studies since graduating? How have you applied what you learnt at university to your job/further studies?
My experience and learning at Lincoln Bishop helped me to prepare for the career I am in. The scenarios that we acted out in uni while learning, to manage behaviour, the placement experience of first hand experience with students helped me to know the students in UK and while getting into job, I didn’t feel like I am a new teacher.
Life at University
What are your favourite memories from student life at University?
The University has a beautiful chapel, named after St Francis and St. Clare, where I used to spend a lot of evenings. Those moments were calming and refreshing and so memorable.
The beautiful environment and surrounding of the university is great. As I lived at campus accommodation, I would spent time walking, and enjoying the beauty around. The quiet moments that I spent there is really memorable.
Another evening that I remember is the gathering of those who lived in the campus.
How did your time at University influence you personally or professionally?
Professionally I became more confident and I also learnt a lot of professional behaviours which are not spelt out in our native country,
What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
The greatest difficulty I faced was to manage behaviour of students in the classroom. Following the advice of experienced mentors and staff I was able to manage this to a great extend.
Life in Lincoln
What were your first impressions of Lincoln?
I thought Lincoln is a beautiful city, with lots of historical importance and great for sight seeing.
How did you find living and settling in the city as an international student?
For living and settling in Lincoln there was lot’s of support from uni, accommodation, church etc which made it easy. Being part of a church was a great experience and bonus. .
What did you enjoy most about living in Lincoln?
Being part of an international community was enriching and inspiring. In Lincoln I explored various churches and attended their different services which was very different to mine. So as per my need I chose to go to different churches. Climbing the hill on Saturdays was another beautiful experience.
Your Current Location
Where do you currently live (the name of the town/city)?
Braintree, Essex
Do you enjoy living there?
Yes, this is also a beautiful place. I enjoy here.
What do you enjoy most about where you live?
Here there are large parks for playing, there are different lovely walks which I take occasionally and a river and beautiful sceneries.
Advice for Future Students
What advice would you give to international students considering studying at Lincoln Bishop?
I would say this is one of the best universities and you get the best support if you are open to the faculty. Especially the students should make the best use of the support from The Hub to write assignments. I could not make the best use of the trips by Fr. Peter as I had school Monday to Friday. But I would have joined them if I was free.
Is there anything you wish you had known before arriving?
I wish I had known about the registrations at different sites I had to do, like, gp, right to work, NI number, etc which I came to know very late from some of my friends.
