Dr Hannah Grenham
Hannah has been a member of staff at Lincoln Bishop University since 2017, when she joined the Centre for Enhancement in Learning and Teaching (CELT) as a Learning Development Tutor. Since 2021, she has worked as a Senior Lecturer on the Foundation Year programme and also contributes to teaching in the History department. Prior to coming to Lincoln Bishop, Hannah earned an undergraduate MA in English and Modern History and a postgraduate MLitt in Modern History, both from the University of St Andrews. She was awarded her PhD from the University of St Andrews in 2017 for a thesis titled ‘Power to the People: Changing Attitudes to Computer Technology in the United States, 1951-1982’. Hannah is also a Certified Practitioner of Learning Development through ALDinHE and an Associate Fellow of the HEA. Hannah’s research interests are in late modern US history, particularly in the connections between society, culture, and technology. She is also interested in researching the professionalisation of Learning Development and pedagogical practices within Higher Education. Aggi Doughty
Aggi Doughty is a Senior Lecturer on the Careers Development Professional Apprenticeship within the Business Team. Aggi gained an undergraduate degree in Drama from the University of Leeds in 2001 and ran her own business working as an actor, director and dramaturg for five years, before moving into careers and completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance (DipCG) and Level 6 in Careers Development simultaneously in 2014. She has continued to study and practice within the careers space ever since, gaining a Masters in Career Development from Nottingham Trent University in 2021. She is committed to lifelong learning, gaining her Level 6 Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2014. She has most recently gained a Level 2 in Youth Work Principles, and has been a Fellow of the HEA since 2020. Her research interests are around the intersection of coaching and careers, narrative in career journeys, and sociological theories of employment, specifically in relation to gender and leadership.Prior to joining Lincoln Bishop, Aggi held a portfolio of careers consultancy and teaching roles alongside leadership positions in Further and Higher education. Her experience is local and national in a wide variety of educational settings from alternative provision, to Independent secondary schools, to Higher Education Institutions. She has been a Careers Leader in a number of secondary schools and has gained the National Quality in Careers Standard via the Career Mark pathway from scratch for four separate institutions (and counting!). She continues to work in practice as a Career Development Professional alongside lecturing. -

Alison Braithwaite
Alison Braithwaite is a Lecturer and Assessor for the Career Development Professional Apprenticeship, leading on the following themes of the apprenticeship: Reflect, Practice, Information and Caseload.Building on Alison’s 30 plus years of experience in working in the Career Development sector since studying the Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance at Napier University, Alison is a passionate advocate of professional careers guidance support in a range of contexts, within educational settings and the wider community.Alison has worked in Careers and Connexions Services in Norfolk, Leeds and Lincolnshire as a practitioner in schools and community settings, leading on policy development around post 16 participation and as a delivery manager. Here at LBU, she managed a 7 and half year ESF and Lottery funded project, supporting out of work adults into employment and learning. Her main areas of expertise and interest are services to support the marginalised in society, particularly young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) or at risk of becoming so, having been County Lead for 8 years. She has an interest in how we make best use of tools and techniques to build career management skills within our clients, allowing them to have greater control over their future education and careers, whilst always maintaining an ethical approach. -

Eleanor Tierney
Eleanor joined Lincoln Bishop as a Visiting Tutor in 2019 after many years of Secondary Computing classroom teaching and supporting trainee teachers. She has been Head of Department and ICT Across the Curriculum Lead, auditing, planning and delivering staff training as well as providing additional support for Gifted, Talented and More Able students. Eleanor has taught qualified teachers Internationally with particular emphasis on Assessment for Learning and Gifted, Talented and more Able students in Computing. Eleanor is Computing Lead for PGCE Secondary Initial Teacher Education and also supports the Science department. She is also a member of the Social Justice Research and Knowledge Exchange Unit. Eleanor’s Doctoral research focuses on exploring school based mentors’ training needs in general terms, and more specifically Computing mentors, and how this translates to supporting trainee Computing teachers strengthen the interplay between theory and practice. -

Leanne Leverton
Leanne teaches the BSc and MA Health and Social Care degrees at Lincoln Bishop. Leanne's background within practice was Health Visiting Practice with a specialist qualification in Community Public Health Nursing and Practice Education. She is also a registered paediatric nurse. Leanne has delivered education and training within the specialist field and public health community nursing for 10 years bringing considerable healthcare experience and Knowledge to the Health and Social Care programmes. -

Dr Abimbola Thompson
Dr Abimbola (Bola) Thompson is a Senior Lecturer in Business at Lincoln Bishop University. Before joining Lincoln Bishop, Bola worked in various capacities at various institutions including Coventry University Scarborough, Cambridge Education Group - OnCampus Hull, and University of Hull. Bola began her professional journey as an assistant auditor with Akintola Williams Deloitte and Touche, upon graduation in 2002. While practising as an auditor, Bola developed a keen interest in how financial practices influence broader economic systems. Bola received her MSc in Business Economics and PhD in Economics from the University of Hull, in 2005 and 2013, respectively. The PhD research topic was on “Financial development, FDI and Economic growth: Evidence from developing countries”. Bola has worked in various roles in higher education from foundation level to postgraduate studies; this includes tutoring, lecturing, module lead, and course content developer for master’s foundation postgraduate studies. Bola’s research and learning interests include macroeconomics, international trade, human capital and economic development, Foreign direct investments (FDI) and financial development. Her contributions to the academic community are significant as she serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of International Trade & Economic Development. Bola is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an active member of several prestigious organisations, including the British Academy of Management (BAM), the Chinese Economic Association (UK &EU), the World Economics Association (WEA) and the Academy of African Business and Development (AABD). -

Kimberley Edwards
Kimberley joined Lincoln Bishop in February 2023 after being a Head of History and teaching history at a variety of schools across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire for over a decade. Kimberley has worked with a range of different schools and departments, supporting both humanities and history teams through her role as a Specialist Leader in Education. For this role Kimberley specialised in improving teaching and learning within classrooms. Kimberley has also mentored and coached several teaching trainees across her career. Kimberley has also worked as an External Examiner and Team Leader for a large exam board within the UK, ensuring consistency across marking. Gillian Johnston
Gillian joined Lincoln Bishop in October 2022 as a Sociology/Criminology lecturer. Her current role is Programme Leader for both the BA (Hons) Sociology and BA (Hons) Criminology programmes. Gillian played a pivotal role in developing the recently validated BA (Hons) Criminology programme. Gillian’s qualifications span both disciplines. She graduated from the University of Lincoln with a BA (Hons) Social Science degree and later graduated from Keele University with an MA in Criminology and Research Methods. She is currently undertaking an EdD. Her area of interest and the topic of her thesis is related to class, gender and Higher Education. The aim of her research is to examine the impact that social background and gender may have on mature working-class women whilst on their Higher Education learning journey. The working title of her research: Exploring the inner worlds of mature working-class women on their journey through Higher Education. Gillian’s criminological interest is with punishment and prisons. She has gained extensive practical skills through her volunteering experiences with several local organisations that offer support to offenders in the prison environment and ex-offenders in the community. Dr Darren Poole
Dr Darren Poole is a lecturer in Military History at Bishop Grosseteste University. He holds a Ph.D. in Military History from the University of Chester. In addition to his History qualifications, he also has degrees in Geography, Education and Management. Before joining Lincoln Bishop, Darren taught History at both the University of Chester and University Centre, Shrewsbury. At Chester and Shrewsbury, he taught all aspects of Military History and also supported learners who were new to Higher Education, including international students joining English universities for the first time. Prior to becoming a lecturer, Darren was a Head of History and Geography in secondary schools across England. He still retains links to schools and education. His research interests include aerial warfare, counterinsurgency and the voices of the oppressed and ignored in conflict. He is particularly committed to promoting the ‘unheard’ voices of war i.e. those civilians neglected by conventional military accounts of combat. Darren is a published author and is currently working on a book examining the underreported violence that terrorists often inflict upon their own people. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. -

Dr Lucinda Newns
Senior Lecturer in English Lucinda Newns is a Senior Lecturer in English specialising in postcolonial and environmental literature. She joined Lincoln Bishop in 2023 after previous positions at King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Manchester. She has also held a research fellowship at the Education University of Hong Kong (2020-2021). She was awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship to complete her PhD at London Metropolitan University and holds an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) and a BA from New York University. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
