  1. 11. Dr Ursula McKenna
    Dr Ursula McKenna is Senior Research Fellow in Implicit Religion at Lincoln Bishop where she is located within the Department of Theology and the World Religions and Education Research Unit. Upon completion of her BA (QTS) she was awarded an Economic and Social Research Council MA studentship and obtained an MA (with distinction) for her work on religious education for children with special educational needs in the primary school. While combining a part-time research post with a job-share class teaching position she then completed her doctorate. Her research was an evaluation of the Building E- Bridges programme, a project which advocated the use of email in primary schools to promote interfaith dialogue amongst pupils across the UK. For fourteen years Ursula taught across the primary age range and as research fellow at the University of Warwick (1999-2021) she contributed to the PGCE Primary and Early Years Religious Education module and the MA in Religious Education by distance learning course. She has undertaken supervision of dissertation students on BA and MA Education Studies degrees and has co-supervised research students. For twelve years she was editorial assistant for the British Journal of Religious Education, co-ordinating the refereeing process for all submissions and special issues.
  2. 12. Revd Canon Professor Leslie J Francis
    Leslie Francis holds the part-time post of Professor of Religions, Psychology and Education. He works with doctoral students in fields that connect religious studies, theology, psychology, and education. Before joining Lincoln Bishop University he held chairs in Pastoral Theology at Lampeter, Practical Theology at Bangor, Religions and Education at Warwick, and Religions and Psychology at Warwick. Currently he holds visiting positions in universities in Pretoria and Newfoundland and serves as Canon Theologian at Liverpool Cathedral.
  3. 13. Dr Tim Galsworthy
    Lecturer in History & Military HistoryDr Tim Galsworthy joined Lincoln Bishop University in September 2023 having previously taught at the University of South Wales, University of Gloucestershire, and University of Sussex. Tim’s research focuses on the interplay between memory, politics, and race in the modern United States. In particular, he is interested in the relationships between the Republican Party and memories of the American Civil War.Tim has won grants and fellowships from numerous bodies to support his research. These include the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress, the British Association for American Studies, Mississippi Political Collections, Pennsylvania State University Special Collections, the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies, and the South Caroliniana Library.Tim has served on various academic committees including Pubs and Publications, Historians of the Twentieth Century United States, and the Southern Historical Association Graduate Council. He has a background in public outreach and knowledge exchange involving radio, podcasts, published opinion pieces, and public events. Tim is currently a managing editor of the British Journal for Military History and serves on the editorial team of the student journal Solertia.Tim was awarded his PhD in History from the University of Sussex in 2023, where he was funded by the CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership. He also holds an MPhil in American History from Selwyn College, Cambridge and a BA in History from the University of Bristol.Tim teaches a range of History and Military History modules covering the modern and early modern periods, with a particular focus on the United States, Europe, and Britain/the British Empire.
  4. 14. Dr Lucinda Newns
    Senior Lecturer in English Lucinda Newns is a Senior Lecturer in English specialising in postcolonial and environmental literature. She joined Lincoln Bishop in 2023 after previous positions at King’s College London, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Manchester. She has also held a research fellowship at the Education University of Hong Kong (2020-2021). She was awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship to complete her PhD at London Metropolitan University and holds an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) and a BA from New York University. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
  5. 15. Leanne Chancellor
    Leanne Chancellor serves as Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and Interim University Secretary at Lincoln Bishop University, providing support in the strategic and operational leadership of effective governance, compliance, and executive support for the delivery of Strategy 2030.In this role, Leanne oversees the co-ordination of the University’s governance framework, supporting University Council, Senate, and key committees to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with regulatory requirements.Leanne plays a pivotal role in enabling the University’s ambition and Mission, ensuring that decision-making processes are informed, efficient, and compliant. She supports and advises governance, statutory compliance, and the smooth operation of executive functions, including the planning and delivery of major institutional events such as graduation ceremonies.Leanne has worked for Lincoln Bishop University for over 20 years and has developed extensive expertise in governance, executive administration, and stakeholder engagement. She has held a series of roles at the University, including research, international, and executive administration, before stepping into her current leadership position. Her career reflects a strong commitment to operational excellence and the creation of collaborative, high-performing teams.Leanne is passionate about organisational effectiveness and student experience; she continues to play a key role in supporting the University’s strategic priorities and ensuring that governance and compliance frameworks enable the successful implementation of Strategy 2030. Connect with Leanne on LinkedIn
