2. Applying to University

Your young person can start their application through UCAS, write their personal statement, and add up to five course choices.
You can help by:
- Reading through their personal statement together and offering encouragement.
- Checking entry requirements and deadlines carefully.
- Making sure their school or college submits their reference in time.
Key Date:
14 January 2026: UCAS Deadline
All undergraduate applications should be submitted by 6pm (UK time).
3. Offers, Decisions and Finance
This is when universities begin making offers, either conditional (based on exam results) or unconditional.
You can help by:
Talking through the pros and cons of each offer.
Supporting your young person to apply for Student Finance, bursaries, or scholarships early.
Helping them explore accommodation options and start budgeting for independent living.
Tip: UCAS reply deadlines vary depending on when offers are received, so make sure your young person checks their UCAS Hub regularly.
