Lincoln Bishop University’s Head of Student Success, Phil Davis, has been recognised by the National Association of Student Money Advisers (NASMA) with an Outstanding Contribution to Student Money Advice Award.

The award celebrates the impact of his long-standing work in student money advice, including leadership within NASMA, contribution to national guidance and continued involvement in the wider student support network.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, NASMA is a professional membership association helping their members to provide the best support to students by promoting the development and sharing of sector best practice and free exchange of ideas.

In his acceptance speech, Phil said he was “blown away” to receive the award.

Alongside other colleagues and peers in his network, Phil thanked the Student Advice and Wellbeing team at Lincoln Bishop University for supporting his involvement with NASMA over the years.

Phil’s role at Lincoln Bishop is closely connected to the institution’s Student Advice and Wellbeing team where support for students is shaped by practical advice, continued development and a clear focus on helping students to thrive.

Phil said: “I could not believe what I was reading when I received the email telling me I’d been given this award. Thank you so much, it means so much, and I’m greatly honoured to have been chosen to receive it.

“Collectively we make such a difference for the UK’s students. NASMA is a huge asset to the Higher Education sector.”

Phil has played a key role in NASMA for many years, including serving as Chair from 2012/13 to 2014/15 and as a Board member from 2007 to 2016. Today, he is Chair of the NASMA Hardship Funds Committee, which helps shape the national guidance used by many universities.

The award recognises Phil’s contribution to the sector, related to the work and support offered through Student Advice and Wellbeing at Lincoln Bishop, helping students access the guidance they need to move forward with confidence throughout their studies and beyond.
