Over the past five years, Lincoln Bishop University has proudly developed a dynamic and inclusive apprenticeship provision that offers flexible, meaningful opportunities for individuals - many of whom are returning to education after time away.

Our programmes are designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need to thrive in their roles and make a lasting impact within their organisations and communities.

The growth in our apprenticeship provision reflects the increasing recognition among individuals and employers of the value of apprenticeships as a powerful route to career development. Our higher and degree apprenticeships are not only transforming workplaces but also contributing to improved services and outcomes for customers and service users across Greater Lincolnshire and beyond.

As a university committed to widening participation, we are proud to support under-represented groups in higher education. Our work-based programmes provide a vital pathway for mature learners and those who may not have previously considered university study. The average age of our apprentices is 43, with learners ranging from 18 to 63 years old. Notably, almost half of our apprentices come from Q1 and Q2 postcode areas, those with the lowest levels of higher education participation, demonstrating our commitment to social mobility and inclusive growth.

We currently deliver five apprenticeship standards and work in partnership with over 150 employers across a diverse range of sectors, including education, health, and business services. Our key partners include the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lincolnshire County Council, North Lincolnshire Council, Lincolnshire Co-operative, and Lincolnshire Police. These collaborations ensure our programmes are responsive to real workforce needs and aligned with regional priorities.

Our apprenticeships are helping employers to upskill their workforce, improve retention, and drive innovation and efficiency. At the same time, they are empowering individuals to grow in confidence, take on new responsibilities, and make meaningful contributions to their workplaces and communities.

Recognised as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2024, our apprenticeship provision continues to evolve in response to the needs of learners and employers. As we look to the future, we remain committed to expanding our reach, deepening our partnerships, and ensuring that our programmes continue to deliver real value and impact.
