This module is designed to encourage students to critically identify the tensions between legal, ethical and professional responsibilities from the perspective of health and social care practice. Students will be assisted to further explore their own values and belief systems through a legal, ethical and professional lens.
Students will be supported to develop their knowledge regarding key pieces of health and social care legislation, professional codes of practice and organisational policies and procedures. The application of these on service provision, the service user and the professional will be examined.
The module will consider what it means to be an accountable practitioner in contemporary health and social care practice.
Applications open soon.
Admissions Process
If you are applying for individual or bundled modules through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), we will consider your application based on the level of study and the requirements of the module or modules you want to take.
You will need to show that you have the right knowledge, skills and preparation to study successfully at the level you are applying for. This could include previous qualifications, professional development, work experience or other relevant learning. If you have completed relevant prior learning at another institution, we may also be able to take this into account through our Recognition of Prior Learning process.
If you do not have the usual entry qualifications, we may still be able to consider your application. Please speak to our enquiries team for more information.
You will normally need to show successful study at Level 4, or equivalent prior learning. If it is relevant to the module, placement, learning activities or assessment, you will also need suitable sector experience. If you are not currently working in the sector, we may still consider your application if you can show enough previous experience or other suitable preparation.
