Celebrating 10 years of Archaeology at Bishop Grosseteste University

As part of a series of events planned to recognise this achievement, BGU’s Archaeology Department are looking to publish a celebratory monograph of articles written by our alumni.

We are inviting alumni of BGU to come forward with proposals of articles exploring any aspect of Archaeology, with the hope that the issue will include pieces ranging across both chronology and geography.

Derwin Gregory, Programme Leader for Archaeology and Heritage, says: “This is a great opportunity for valued alumni of BGU to return to their roots and explore how much they have grown and developed since graduating from BGU.

“Whether you are a recent Archaeology graduate or a member of our original 2015/16 cohort, we want to hear from you.

“The team and I are very much looking forward to receiving all the submitted papers and producing the final article next year!”

The articles can be related to your own research interests, research you undertook at BGU, or work that you have undertaken since graduating.

The monograph will comprise a mixture of traditional and non-traditional papers, as we are keen to reflect different ways of engaging with and responding to Archaeology. For traditional works of research, we invite proposals of 2000-4000 words.

We also welcome diverse contributions, including poetry, art, short stories, and reflections, with no suggested word count for such non-traditional contributions.

The deadline for submitting your paper is March/April 2025, with an estimated publication date of September/October 2025. Dr Derwin Gregory, Dr Martin Huggon, and Dr Ian Hardwick are editors of the project.
