The module will enable students to reflect on the utility of evidence in  practice to support and inform effective Health and Social Care and enable effective decision making.

It will support the initial awareness of the importance of research and evidence-informed practice, and its utility for and in practice.   The module will develop the foundational skills to support the student’s ability to critically review evidence-informed practice and consider the effective utility of practice informed research.

The module will support student confidence in their own skills of critical reflection and support them with initial decision-making processes with a view to empowering them to communicate possible changes in practice where incongruence exists. Students will be introduced to appropriate ethical frameworks required to protect the rights, dignity and safety of those involved, but also which challenge the values and beliefs of self.

Admissions Process

If you are applying for individual or bundled modules through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), we will consider your application based on the level of study and the requirements of the module or modules you want to take.

You will need to show that you have the right knowledge, skills and preparation to study successfully at the level you are applying for. This could include previous qualifications, professional development, work experience or other relevant learning. If you have completed relevant prior learning at another institution, we may also be able to take this into account through our Recognition of Prior Learning process.

If you do not have the usual entry qualifications, we may still be able to consider your application. Please speak to our enquiries team for more information.

You do not need previous employment in health and social care to apply for Level 4 modules. You will need to show that you are ready to study at this level and meet any placement or safeguarding requirements linked to your chosen module. Some modules with placement activity may also help you build early sector experience and support your next steps into employment or further study.
