The Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) is changing how people can access higher education, offering greater flexibility to study individual modules rather than committing to a full qualification upfront. It’s a new way to learn, develop skills and work towards a qualification that fits around your life, your goals and your ambitions.

Admissions Process
If you are applying for individual or bundled modules through the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), we will consider your application based on the level of study and the requirements of the module or modules you want to take.
You will need to show that you have the right knowledge, skills and preparation to study successfully at the level you are applying for. This could include previous qualifications, professional development, work experience or other relevant learning. If you have completed relevant prior learning at another institution, we may also be able to take this into account through our Recognition of Prior Learning process.
If you do not have the usual entry qualifications, we may still be able to consider your application. Please speak to our enquiries team for more information.
You do not need previous employment in health and social care to apply for Level 4 modules. You will need to show that you are ready to study at this level and meet any placement or safeguarding requirements linked to your chosen module. Some modules with placement activity may also help you build early sector experience and support your next steps into employment or further study.
You will normally need to show successful study at Level 4, or equivalent prior learning. If it is relevant to the module, placement, learning activities or assessment, you will also need suitable sector experience. If you are not currently working in the sector, we may still consider your application if you can show enough previous experience or other suitable preparation.
You will normally need to show successful study at Level 5, or equivalent prior learning. You will usually also need relevant sector experience where this is required for your chosen module. Entry may also depend on any specific module requirements.
If you are applying for the Research and Dissertation bundled module, you will need appropriate preparation in research design, research methods and research ethics. The usual prerequisite is HSC50322 Research Skills for Practice. If you have not completed this module, we may still consider your application if you can show equivalent prior learning or suitable research preparation.
If you want to continue with further modular study, we will help you plan a suitable sequence of modules based on your previous study, future goals and any module prerequisites. If you plan to build credit towards an award, your module choices will also need to fit the programme structure, credit requirements and University regulations.
Please note that being offered a place on a module does not automatically confirm that you are eligible for tuition fee support or other financial support. Funding is subject to the rules and eligibility criteria set by the Student Loans Company at the time of application, so you should check this before starting your studies.
You will also need to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. A satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance is required before you start the course.
