Black History Month at Lincoln Bishop and the University of Lincoln

Throughout Black History Month, October 2026, Lincoln Bishop will host a variety of events that celebrate the local, national, and global contributions of Black People to various areas. Storytelling, lectures, and a one woman show from celebrated Black British creative Esme Sears are among these events.

Black History Month (BHM) Creative Challenge Competition 2026

Theme: “Honouring Our Communities”

We are proud to host a Black History Month Creative Challenge Competition. This competition, which is open for local primary schools to participate in, provides a platform for individuals to showcase their interpretations of how Black individuals have contributed to society throughout history and how their stories continue to inspire today.

Participants are encouraged to express their vision using any creative medium, including art, writing, photography, and video. Please capture your work by photograph or video and send your digital file to the university using this email address: sheine.peart@lincolnbishop.ac.uk

Deadline: 25th September 2026

Winner Announcement: The winner will be selected via a poll sent out to Lincoln Bishop staff and students via our online portal and the winner will be notified by email on Monday, 5th October 2026 and on this page.

Terms & Conditions:

All submitted artwork will be retained by Lincoln Bishop University and displayed on campus for public viewing.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with GDPR and will not be shared publicly.
There will be only one winner of the competition.
AI-generated work is not permitted, all submissions must be the original work of the participant.
Lincoln Bishop reserves the right to exclude any submissions deemed offensive or inappropriate.
The £50 prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for any other form of reward.
By submitting an entry, participants confirm that they give permission for Lincoln Bishop to display it publicly.
