What is WRERU?
The World Religions and Education Research Unit (WRERU) has been established within Lincoln Bishop as a dynamic centre for research and knowledge exchange. It brings together and supports existing activities while also fostering new initiatives dedicated to advancing research and development in world religions and education.Rather than replacing or merging established projects, WRERU aims to strengthen connections between them, enhancing collaboration, increasing visibility, and creating opportunities for new work to flourish. In doing so, there is real potential for Lincoln Bishop to develop a globally leading position in research in world religions and education.By ‘world religions’ in the unit’s title, we refer to religious traditions of international significance, including, among many others, Anglican, Roman Catholic, Nonconformist and Orthodox Christianity, as well as Baháʼí, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Sikhism and Zoroastrianism.Recognising that religious education worldwide often encompasses non-religious worldviews, alongside ethical and values-based education, these areas are also integral to our work. -
